A YEAR FULL OF CHALLENGES
BUT WE’RE STANDING STRONG FOR 2021!

I would like to place on record my personal thanks and appreciation to all of our customers who have supported the TAG Sportswear in 2020 and also waited patiently for their orders to be delivered.

Not the year any of us planned, but with the support of our great customers, and the dedication of the team at TAG we have survived and live to fight another day!  Its been far from a record year, with sport at all levels affected by the virus.  In fact, in our particular area of expertise, the supply of bespoke technical teamwear – it has almost been the perfect storm.  Understandably sales were very low in the second quarter of the year (with very little confidence of ANY sport in 2020).  However, once the government applied the green light in late June / early July sales were through the roof and created the highest quarter of sales in TAG’s 30 years of business.  The result was a massive surge of orders that have taken some working through – all with reduced staffing levels at our factories due to the social distancing measures in place.

More orders than ever; less staff to make them – the perfect storm!

Moving forwards, although 2021 has started off on another lockdown I feel most of us expect a slightly less turbulent year. I am hopeful of a full 2021-22 winter sports season starting in August / September 2021.  Hopefully, the vaccine will be rolled out in the UK and give everyone more freedom and opportunities to play our chosen sports. However, we must approach the summer with caution.  Whilst as mentioned, I hope the UK is over the worst by late summer it does not follow that the entire world will be in the same position. The technical fabrics involved in supplying your teamwear are sourced globally and an outbreak in another area could still affect the supply chain.

I have spent several months sourcing and working with new suppliers to ensure TAG Sportswear has the maximum productivity and flexibility in 2021 – suppliers from different areas of the world as well as production units in various countries.  The result of these measures will see TAG Sportswear products manufactured in several new factories in 2021.  Rest assured no existing customers will have their production moved from one factory to another (without prior consultation).  Delivering quality products, with consistent colour attributes is vitally important to TAG Sportswear and our customers.  Only new projects and new clients will use the new facilities.  Having increased production facilities will take the pressure off our main factory in peak periods.

The net result will be to offer our customers an improved choice of products, REDUCE LEAD TIMES, and ensure the very best service levels moving forwards.

Once again thank you for your support and patience throughout 2020 and I look forward to serving you all again in 2021.

Happy New Year and stay safe.

Kind Regards

Tony
